[Entry I] Thank You [LevixFem!Reader]

“B-Big…!” Tears came to her eyes. She knew she wasn’t going to make it, and yet she still wished that she somehow could. Her mouth opened again, but the word she uttered was brutally cut off. “Bro-”

The sudden slap of rain was as though Isabel’s blood had splashed across your face. You felt water run past your eyes, but whether it be rain water or tears, or perhaps even both, you could no longer tell. All you saw was red, and how desperately you wanted to wipe all that red away.

Pulling your blades from their holster, you dashed forward, your horse having been long forgotten. Isabel’s name poured from your lips when the monster looked up, its face smeared in her blood, and grinned.

“Bastard!!” you heard Farlan cry out from your left as he moved to grab his gear, only to discover that it had been broken. The giant humanoid made to grab Farlan, but before it could, its nape was taken out.

“Who…?”

“Get back, Church, or do you want to get us both killed?!” your captain barked, “Find a horse and get yourself and [Last] out of here!”

Farlan grit his teeth but somewhat obeyed. You screamed when the monster’s hand swiped Flagon into its grasp, crushing his bones almost immediately. Farlan had tackled you before its other hand could grab you both, but you continued struggling.

“No! Let me go, Farlan!” you tried to break free, but he was stronger. “We…have to…save…”

“It’s too late, [First],” he’d sounded so broken, unlike the Farlan you’d come to know, “They’re already dead.”

You clenched your teeth, and squeezed his arm as you watched it detach Flagon’s head from his body with a bite. A sickening crunch made your body shudder, and you had to bite your lip to hold back bile.

“Get out of here, [First].”

“F-Farlan?” you looked up at him from where you had been crouched. He turned his head, smiling at you, but that smile didn’t match his eyes and that scared you.

“Find Levi, and take care of him for me and Isabel, will ya? He’s gonna need you more than ever now. Promise me that no matter what happens, you’ll never give up on him. You hear?”

“No! Don’t talk like that! I won’t let you-”

“It’s too late,” Farlan repeated, turning his back to you. “We can’t both make it out of this alive.”

“Farlan!”

You’d started to reach for him, but with a flick of his arm, he’d knocked you back and away from the reaching arms of the Titan.

“FARLAN!!!!!” He lifted an arm as if to say goodbye, and your vision went white.

Is this as far we can go?

Watching half his body fall in one direction while a severed arm fell in another had you momentarily confused. Did he manage to cut off its arm before he died? Or…

“Levi…”

Said male landed a couple of feet in front of you, with half of Farlan’s body tucked under one arm. You couldn’t find words as you watched Levi gently set Farlan’s corpse on the ground before rising, taking a firm stance as he redrew his blades. He looked like a hero and savior in that moment, and memories of when you first met flooded your mind.

He felled the five Titans in the blink of an eye, and the way he decapitated them…the way he taunted them…You could feel his pain.

When he dropped to his knees, closing Isabel’s eyes, you hugged him. He didn’t struggle, but he didn’t acknowledge your presence either. He was numb. And you could only hold him tighter, trying to convey your feelings to him then and there.

He shoved you off suddenly, but not for the reason you thought. Circling you was Erwin and Mike, and some lone horses. Erwin spoke, but Levi refused to listen. He’d tackled the man off his horse, holding him at blade-point.

Mike leapt off his horse, making a beeline for you, but the murderous look on Levi’s face dared him to take a step closer. Documents scattered, eyes widened, words were exchanged, and blood dripped.

For once, Levi looked at a loss, and that’s when your brain processed Erwin’s words.

“Don’t you want to protect her?”

Levi lowered his blade, glancing up at the clearing sky.

“From now on, it’s not a deal with anyone.”

Later that night, after you and Levi settled into your new rooms that he insisted to the superiors that you both share, instead of climbing into his own bed, he settled in right next to you. Your eyes softened and you reached an arm out, brushing away strands of fallen hair. He watched you for a while, before catching your wrist and halting your actions.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t do more to save them,” you whispered, eyes half-lidded to prevent tears from spilling over. Levi’s hand left your wrist to intertwine his fingers with yours, and he pulled your tied hands to the area between your hearts. His forehead met yours, allowing your breaths to mingle.

“Don’t be. Farlan and Isabel left you here for a reason.”

You let a tear fall.

“I swear I’ll never leave your side, Levi,” you promised, curling into him and gripping his shirt tightly. “I won’t let their deaths be in vain.”

“…Good.”

You closed your eyes as he pulled you even closer, hugging you tightly. He placed a kiss on top of your head as you pressed your lips to the base of his throat.

“Thank you…for everything.”
